Senior Director, Financial Planning & Analysis and taxes


The Senior Director Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and taxes is responsible for all project accounting, project analysis, project budget and project monthly forecast (Revenues and ETC). He is also responsible of all direct and indirect tax and R&D credit claim In addition, they support both finance and operational needs and develop financial modeling tools and KPI.

  •  You have strong communication skills (verbal and written in English), as well as strong interpersonal skills

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

More specifically, the Senior Director FP&A and taxes must:

  • Inspire, lead, and develop all functions within the department by formulating a clear vision for the future and attracting and retaining top talent. This responsibility includes planning and assigning work; overseeing the performance of direct reports and performing annual reviews; guiding professional development; addressing employee relation issues; escalating issues.
  • Ensures adequate resources (i.e., headcount, experience, training) to sustain activities.
  • Oversees resources selection and onboarding processes for new employees. Ensures all project accounting recommendations, including revenue recognition and pass through, are accounted for according to Canadian GAAP for private enterprises.
  • Develop, coordinate, and continually improve annual project Budget models and monthly project forecasts. This includes cash projection, revenues, estimated to complete hours and headcounts.
  • Support Project Management in financial project analysis.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs and identify the cause of any unexpected variances.
  • Monitor actual performance vs plan and recommend timely corrective actions
  • Support BD in bids profitability analysis.
  • Support management team and the Heads of Department with data-driven analysis.
  • Provide recommendations and guidance to improve Company efficiency through optimization of resource planning.
  • Responsible of the ERP module related to project and professional service automation (PSA)
  • Manage the production of the Canadian/Québec SRED claim.
  • Support the preparation of the provincial and federal annual tax report as well as US states taxes declaration.
  • Support the preparation of the tax report for the foreign entities in collaboration with the local accounting firm.
  • Employee may be assigned to other responsibilities that do not pertain to their former description, if they have the required experience, are qualified and/or have received adequate training.

 

IDEAL PROFILE

 

Education

  • University Degree in Finance or equivalent
  • Qualified Chartered Accountant (CPA)

 

Experience 

  • 10 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance department, including 5 years of people management
  • Extensive experience in accounting, experience in project accounting will be considered an asset

 

Knowledge and skills

  • Accounting, systems, financial modeling
  • Experience managing SRED claims and in Canadian income and indirect taxes.
  • Excellent communication skills, in French and English, both written and spoken
  • Analytically proficient
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Power Bi and SQL database
  • Proven ability to set and achieve objectives.
  • Strategic planning experience (multi-year planning)
