Tax Specialist


Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Tax Specialist is responsible for all corporate tax functions including tax compliance and advisory services. The Financial and Tax Analyst leads all tax activities including tax related procedures, monitoring and control of tax reporting process, tax audits and key business partnering on all tax matters.

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Prepare working papers to support the Canadian income tax returns (including SR&ED tax credit claim), tax forms and related documents for Canadian entity
  • Support preparation of US and federal and state tax return for the Canadian and US entity
  • Assist in the preparation of tax returns for international subsidiaries
  • Prepare local transfer pricing documentation and support their entry in books
  • Prepare year-end tax provision calculations (current and deferred), including reconciliation of all tax general ledger accounts and reporting package for Canadian Affiliates,
  • Assist with various government tax audits (domestic, international and sales tax)
  • Respond to ad hoc requests from tax authorities and business units
  • Assist with tax research and communicate effectively to relevant stakeholders
  • Monitor tax legislative changes and analyze the impact to the business, including changes to processes and ERP systems
  • Conduct tax research on various topics related to Canadian and international income tax, indirect taxes and taxable benefits
  • Perform month end close and other financial analysis that doesn’t directly belong to tax

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

Education 

  • Bachelor’s degree and Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation required.

 

Experience 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience relevant Canadian corporate tax experience in a firm and/or industry.

 

Knowledge and skills

  • Strong knowledge of tax accounting and tax compliance rules
  • Strong knowledge of SR&ED tax credit
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, dynamic and changing environment
  • Fluent in French and English (written and spoken)

Work location

The successful candidate for this position is given the option to work from home anywhere in Quebec, or from our headquarters in Montreal (in accordance with company policies and public health directives).

Occasional visits to our Montreal headquarters may be required or encouraged.
