Vice President, Project Management


This high-profile role leads the Project Management department overseeing global clinical trials, on time and on budget to the delight of our sponsor partners.

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Operational performance and strategy 

  • Create and implement the Project Management department’s strategic plan
  • Oversee financial performance: overall P&L accountability for the department’s operations
  • Generate and present financial, resourcing, and KPI reports to senior management
  • Contribute to initiatives related to global growth, structure, cost containment, partnering, etc.

 

Client satisfaction and relationships

  • Effectively escalate quality issues, request QA audits as appropriate, summarize findings and establish action plans to ensure resolution of quality issues for the department
  • Create a culture of immediate action and proactive escalation to prospectively present solutions to risk, effective interaction with stakeholders, and effective management of general quality risk
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals for new projects, as well as in proposal defense meetings and sponsor interactions, as necessary

 

Processes and tools

  • Oversee the adaptation of processes and training materials (including SOPS and tools) as the company evolves and seizes new business opportunities
  • Liaise with other departments to ensure the synergy and optimization of interactions
  • Lead or participate in initiatives related to the improvement of processes and tools

 

Team leadership

  • Oversee a department comprising 100+ employees spanning 5 countries (Canada, United States, Poland, Spain, India)
  • Ensure the company’s vision is fully understood and incorporated into actions by all staff
  • Support or actively participate in initiatives related to talent acquisition, employee retention, performance management, career development, training
  • Collaborate with Resource Management to ensure adequate internal resources (i.e., headcount, experience, training) to sustain activities, focus workload, optimize collaboration, cultivate talent, and promote staff retention

 

IDEAL PROFILE

 

Education

  • B.Sc. in science, nursing; or equivalent; Master’s or advanced degree preferred

 

Experience 

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in clinical research in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or contractual research organization (CRO) industry, including 10 years experience in clinical trial management and/or project management
  • Significant experience managing teams of project management professionals through complex operational global programs
  • Significant experience in strategic planning, budget management and operational performance
  • Experience developing proposals, contributing to project budgets & client presentations, participating in bid defense meetings
  • Experience in dermatology clinical research is an asset

 

Knowledge and skills

  • Excellent business and financial acumen, along with a complete understanding of services offered by full-service CROs in a clinical trial
  • Ability to navigate challenging situations with internal and external stakeholders while maintaining positive and professional relationships
  • Keen awareness of industry-relevant systems and vendors (ex. CTMS, eTMF, IRT, QMS)
  • Good adaptability, versatility, and ability to lead in a changing environment
  • Excellent communication skills in English (additional languages such as French, Spanish, Polish, and Hindi may be an asset)

Work location

The successful candidate for this position is given the option to work from home anywhere in Canada, or from our headquarters in Montreal (in accordance with company policies and public health directives). US-based candidates may also be considered.

Regular visits to our Montreal headquarters will be required.   

Occasional travel, which may include overnight trips and / or international travel may be required as part of this role for candidates in all locations, including Montreal.
