In 2000, Innovaderm began its activities as a clinical research site specialized in dermatology. Innovaderm has quickly built a strong reputation for the quality of its clinical research, the achievement of subject enrollment objectives and the care offered to its study participants.
In 2004, Innovaderm initiated strategic partnerships with research centers in the United States and Canada to offer its sponsors access to other high-quality dermatology sites. Since then, Innovaderm has built an excellent database of collaborating sites in North America.
In 2007, Innovaderm expanded its activities to include Clinical Research Organization (CRO) services for studies in dermatology. Our company offers a unique combination of a full-service CRO with advanced scientific capabilities and expert clinical site network.
Innovaderm is internationally renowned for its numerous research studies on psoriasis, acne and atopic dermatitis as well as for studies involving biologics and photodynamic therapy (PDT). Over 64% of our team comes from a life sciences background and over 55% has a postgraduate degree (Master, PhD and MD).
Robert Bissonnette, MD, FRCPC
Founder and CEO
Dr. Robert Bissonnette is the chief executive officer and medical director at Innovaderm, a company he established in 2000. For more than 20 years, Dr. Bissonnette has dedicated his efforts towards the advancement of dermatology research. Dr. Bissonnette has conducted nearly 200 studies ranging from proof-of-concept to phase III studies. As a Key Opinion Leader, he has extensive knowledge of clinical dermatology, clinical research, the dermatology market and is a great asset to our clients as he is able to offer a large perspective in the dermatology research field. He published more than 140 articles and book chapters and gives lectures on various aspects of dermatology at various national and international meetings. After graduating in Medicine from the University of Montreal, he completed his residency training in dermatology at the University of Montreal and his clinical research training at McGill University and the University of British Columbia. Dr. Bissonnette is a board-certified dermatologist and was an associate professor of dermatology at the University of Montreal until 2004. He is regularly solicited to participate on advisory board meetings for his expert opinion on clinical product development. Dr. Bissonnette is internationally renowned for his clinical expertise in atopic dermatitis and psoriasis.
Anne Marie Gaulin
Anne Marie Gaulin serves as the chief business officer at Innovaderm, overseeing business growth and facilitating the liaison between sponsors and our operational team for clinical research projects. Anne Marie joined Innovaderm as a director of business development in 2009. Since then, Anne Marie has contributed to the success and growth of the company by managing sales, marketing, the recruitment center, the CRO operations, the commercial development and she is also responsible for strategic planning. Her knowledge of dermatology clinical trials and more than 25 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry is a great asset to our clients. Prior to joining Innovaderm, Anne Marie held a business development position at Cirion Biopharma, a central laboratory located in the Montreal area, an Operational management position at Alcan packaging, a company specialized in the packaging of pharmaceuticals and different sales and marketing positions in the pharmaceutical industry, including Rhône-Poulenc Rorer, now Sanofi and Sandoz Consumer Health, a division of Novartis.
Sanjay Machado, MD
Dr. Sanjay Machado recently joined Innovaderm as the chief operating officer to oversee the clinical operations. He graduated with a Medical degree (MD) in family medicine and held a private practice in India. Sanjay has over 22 years of experience with multinational biopharmaceutical, CRO, bioequivalence, phase I and site management organizations. He founded Venn Life Sciences, a multinational CRO now trading on the London Stock Exchange and served as its chief operating officer since its inception. He executed 8 CRO acquisitions internationally including their integration with parent companies. The experience of Sanjay with pharmaceutical investigational products, generic drugs, medical devices, imaging studies, Post-Approval Clinical and Epidemiological Studies (PACES) and investigator-initiated studies in several therapeutic areas from phase I to IV are invaluable to our client’s success.
Nathalie Gagnon joined Innovaderm in January 2018. As the chief financial officer, Nathalie is responsible for the overall financial strategy and direction, business support, financial planning and analysis, treasury and risk management and assessment of organic and acquisition expansion opportunities. Nathalie is a proven executive and finance leader with a strong track record in high-growth businesses. She served in various CRO-industry committees and initiatives to promote and optimize CRO activities for the support of tax authorities regarding these activities. For the past 20 years, she has been leading finance and Mergers and Acquisitions for CROs in North America. Nathalie holds an MBA with a major in Finance from HEC Montreal, preceded by a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
VP, CRO Operations
Julie Bédard joined Innovaderm in 2014 in the role of Vice President, CRO Operations and has been overseeing all CRO operations services ever since. Prior to joining Innovaderm, Julie was holding the position of managing director of the Canadian office of a global mid-size CRO as well as leading the clinical trial management and monitoring group in the position of VP, Clinical trial operations for North America. She has over 22 years of experience in clinical research in a CRO environment including project management, clinical monitoring, clinical trial management and executive management. Julie holds a master’s degree in nutrition science from the University of Montreal.
