Clinical Research Assistant (15 hours/week)


The Clinical Research Assistant supports Clinical Research Coordinators during research subject visits.

This part-time position represents approximately 15 hours per week, with a half day schedule every Saturday (8:00am-1:00pm), and approximately 3 hours every Sunday morning with some additional hours during the week for a period of 6 month.

 

This position is ideal for a student if:

  • You are currently a student in sciences or hold a diploma as a licensed practical nurse (LPN).
  • You have a strong interest in clinical research.
  • You are motivated to gain practical experience in a stimulating and innovative environment.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Specifically, the Clinical Research Assistant is responsible for:

  • Assisting the coordinator during research patient visits: taking vital signs, performing ECGs, measuring weight and height, and, if trained and authorized, supporting venipunctures under supervision.
  • Providing support to the coordinator for certain specialized techniques during research patient visits and completing source documents for the study.
  • Participating in the administration of the investigational drug.
  • Maintaining equipment and examination rooms.
  • Preparing for patient visit days.
  • Archiving research documents.
  • Understanding and applying internal procedures.
  • Keeping their personal training file up to date.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

Education:

  • Currently enrolled in a nursing program or a related field.
  • CPR certification (as asset).

 

Experience

  • Practical experience with patients (can include internships or academic activities).
  • Experience or interest in clinical research (an asset).

 

Knowledge and skills

  • French / English bilingualism (oral and written);
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn Good Clinical Practice (GCP);
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel-Word);
  • Demonstrates ability to learn quickly and adapt to a clinical environment;
  • Interest in teamwork;
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously;
  • Integrity, diligence and attention to details.
